𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐚 - 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐧𝐚

Many times when I stand in front of Shri Krishna's painting in our living room, I say this - "हरे कृष्णा, गोड गोड कृष्णा" ( Hare Krishna Cute Cute Krishna) !😁

The Chennakeshava Temple, also referred to as Keshava, Kesava or Vijayanarayana Temple of Belur, is a 12th-century Hindu temple in the Hassan district of Karnataka state, India. It was commissioned by King Vishnuvardhana in 1117 CE, on the banks of the Yagachi River in Belur also called Velapura, an early Hoysala Empire capital. The temple was built over three generations and took 103 years to finish. It was repeatedly damaged and plundered during wars, repeatedly rebuilt and repaired over its history. It is 35 km from Hassan city and about 200 km from Bengaluru.

Recently I joined the "Weekend Trips From Bengaluru" Facebook group and came across many amazing beautiful places around Bangalore. While scrolling down the feed I came across this post written in Kannada and translated by facebook which said- “Chennakeshava - Handsome Krishna”. I stopped scrolling then and there and got indulged in reading the post further. I was really fascinated by the pictures of the temple and idol of Shri Krishna. It was truly magnificent and beautiful beyond my capabilities of describing it in words. I had a strong urge to visit this place. Unfortunately because of some commitments it was not possible to plan our visit to this place over the weekend. It didn’t stop me from making a decision to plan it over the weekend.

On 10th August, Tuesday, we started early in the morning, around 5:15 am from Bangalore. While following the Google Maps we realized that it has been just a couple of weeks since we were driving on the same route to Udupi. We diverted our path from a junction which said way to Chennakeshava Swamy Temple and it took 2 mins from there to reach the temple. Other route was heading towards Udupi. I wonder why He did not let us visit back then when we were on the way to Udupi.

The moment we reached the temple, I was in quite a bit of shock because we had been here in 2016 while we were on the way to Chikmagalur. However, I have no memory of seeing Shri Krishna’s idol. I remember vaguely that it was a crowded place back then.

But now, for the first time in our life we had been to a temple which is such a beautiful historical place and yet there was hardly anyone in the premises. We could spend most of the time chanting "Hare Krishna" while running behind our little "Baal Krishna"!

Sometimes all you need is a day off on a weekday with the people who matter to you the most to find tranquil moments and then we wonder who is taking whom for a ride ?

Ayaansh is taking us or we are taking Ayaansh or it's Krishna who is taking all of us to places! I think it's the last one

आकाशात् पतितं तोयं यथा गच्छति सागरम् ।

सर्व देव नमस्कार: केशवं प्रति गच्छति ॥

Like every drop of water falling from sky goes to ocean,

Similarly, prayers offered to any God (demigods) reaches Keshava. (Shri Krishna - Godhead)
