Tattoo - I always thought of getting one done but wasn't sure what should I get it done. From my perspective tattoo has a deeper meaning than just a fancy trend.
Tattoo - is such a thing that is literally engraved in your skin. People say - "got inked!". That ink on your skin that never fades away and remains there forever. Yes that forever has so much deep meaning! You are ready to accept whole heartedly that it has made an outstanding remarkable influence on your life and it is extremely important or special to you. Not just to your skin that shows off to everyone around you but to your mind also ! Depending on what it is, it could have been responsible for changing your perspective towards the life. It could be constant reminder of something that has deep meaning in your life, not just temporarily but permanently.
Earlier when I started meditating, I used to focus on chanting ॐ and vibrations generated in the process. I started with 10 mins and then in few days I could sit for an hour meditating. I believed that it's the right way of meditation. Because this is how it was taught when I was in school and had never heard of any other ways. Then I heard about guided meditations. I tried few but I wasn't able to focus and felt distracted throughout so I gave up on it.
So I continued focusing on ॐ , I felt as if universe is trying to send me a message although I wasn't sure what it was. I could see Himalayas, I could see myself walking the path in a snow and Lord Shiva in his meditating pose in different forms. Sometimes like a sculpture, sometimes like a real one. It almost became a state of trans where I could focus finally and I hoped it would bring that inner peace I'm looking for.
7th November, 2020
I got up and was meditating in the early morning around 05:30 - 06:00 when the sound of ॐ made me realise this is what I want to get it tattooed. I completed my daily chores after my meditation and got ready and straight away headed to a tattoo parlor - Skindeep Studios, based on reviews and popularity on Google. I told them this is what I want and within next 20-30 mins I had it engraved on skin, just like it has engraved on my mind.
Enlightenment
During this time I also learnt few things about chakras in the body. It was fascinating to know about them - what's the meaning of each chakra, what imbalanced chakras means and what impact it creates on physical and mental state of an individual when they are imbalanced.
8th November, 2020
I started reading Bhagvad Gita. I was struggling to find time to read initially in hectic schedule. Finally I decided to stop meditation routine and make reading as my meditation. Instead of focusing on ॐ now I started focusing on reading. Initially I was bit sceptical, if I'll be able to do it consistently because my reading time was 05:00 - 07:00 am.
As my journey started, on the way I learnt the real meaning of meditation. When Shri Krishna says -
"Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear.” (Bhagavad Gita 18:66)"
"O son of Kunti [Arjuna], I am the taste of water, the light of the sun and the moon, the syllable ॐ in the Vedic mantras; I am the sound in ether and ability in man. (Bhagavad Gita 7.8)"
According to what I have learnt, Guru is someone who shows you a right direction. As Bhagvad Gita appeared as a suggestion to me when I needed it the most, I felt like I met my Spiritual Master (अध्यात्मिक गुरु) who guided me to follow right path, showed me light when I had lost my path and changed me by igniting the light of devotion inside my heart and thus changed my life forever.
Later as I stared reading Śrīmad Bhāgavatam, I could connect the dots of Lord Shiva and Shri Krishna. It has brief description of birth of Lord Bramha from Lord Vishnu and birth of Lord Shiva from Lord Bramha.
Lord Shiva is greatest devotee of Lord Rama. He is the greatest Vaishnav. Ramraksha Stotra was told to Valmiki Rishi in his dreams by Lord Shiva.
As I completed reading Bhagvad Gita on 4th December, 2020, I was inspired to know more about Shri Krishna and his teachings. Although I wasn't sure what should I start reading and then Krishna book appeared as suggestion. This book represents tenth canto of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam.
One of the questions I kept asking throughout while reading Bhagvad Gita was how can one just develop love or cultivate Bhakti inside our hearts for Shri Krishna ? Because Bhakti Yog is a greatest way of pleasing Hrishikesh.(Lord Of Senses - इंद्रियांचे स्वामी - Please his senses not yours)
Ideal way to read tenth canto is only after reading all nine cantos but as I didn't have this knowledge I continued reading Krishna book and not just I got convinced by an idea of falling in love with Shri Krishna but I myself actually fell in love with Shri Krishna.
By the time I was done reading Krishna book half way, Śrīmad Bhāgavatam appeared as suggestion when we visited ISKCON temple on one fine evening. A week before Gita Jayanti (A day on Kurukshetra when Bhagvad Gita was told to Arjuna by Shri Krishna).
While getting out of temple we came across a stall selling Bhagvad Gita and while talking to them lady from the stall suggested to read Śrīmad Bhāgavatam. That moment I felt like it's not her who is suggesting me to read Śrīmad Bhāgavatam but it's an answers to my quest of learning more about Shri Krishna. I can still hear those words in my ears.
Later one day while finishing my daily chores in the morning and listening to my favourite bhajans of Shri Krishna it suddenly made me feel that the next tattoo I want to get done is his name - श्रीकृष्ण 🙏🏼
So on the day of Makarsankranti, 14th January, 2021 when I had another enlightening moment, I visited same tattoo parlor again and got श्रीकृष्ण engraved on my other hand.
Now when I join my palms to pray 🙏🏼 , both ॐ and श्रीकृष्ण are seen.
